The Rocks Will Cry Out | Pastor Nathan Derenski

This powerful message challenges us to examine the gap between our expectations of God and the reality of who He truly is. Drawing from Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem in Luke 19, we're confronted with a sobering truth: the same crowd shouting 'Hosanna' and 'Blessed is the King' would be crying 'Crucify Him' less than a week later. Why? Because their faith was situational rather than steadfast. They wanted a conquering king to overthrow Rome, but God was offering something far greater—an eternal solution to humanity's deepest problem. This speaks directly to our modern tendency to view God as a problem-solver rather than as the worthy object of our worship. We often come to Him with our expectations, our timelines, our solutions, essentially saying 'if God doesn't do this, then I won't believe.' But true faith worships Jesus not for what He can do for us, but for who He is. The Pharisees in this passage became so married to their methods and expectations that they completely missed the presence of God walking right into their temple. The question for us becomes: Are we worshiping God only when circumstances align with our desires, or have we found Him so good that we'll worship Him no matter what? This message invites us to move from a 'what can You do for me' faith to a steadfast devotion that declares God's worthiness even in the midst of unanswered prayers and unmet expectations.
