When You’re Ready to Quit | Pastor Nathan Derenski

We all face moments when quitting feels like the only option—when the pain is too real, the cost too high, and the path forward seems impossible. This powerful exploration of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane reveals something profound: anything worth doing in life will be difficult, but impact is often found at the extremes of our endurance. As we walk through Mark 14, we witness Jesus overwhelmed to the point of death, yet refusing to quit despite having every reason to give up. His closest friends fell asleep when He needed them most, betrayal was imminent, and unimaginable suffering awaited Him. Yet He pressed forward, knowing that on the other side of His endurance was the salvation of humanity. The beauty here is that we don't have to understand God's plan to trust His purpose. When we feel like quitting our marriages, our callings, our faith journey, or our pursuit of character, we can look to Jesus who has been there. He understands our weariness, our disappointment, our desire to give up. But there are people on the other side of our endurance—lives that will be impacted because we chose not to quit. We get to choose our pain: the pain of discipline and pushing through, or the pain of regret from quitting. The question isn't whether life will be hard; it's whether we'll let the difficulty define our destiny.
